World COPD Day - Ananthapuri Hospitals , Trivandrum

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive chronic lung disease that obstructs airflow from the lungs. COPD is most commonly caused by long-term exposure to irritating gases or particulate matter, most often from cigarette smoke. The symptoms include breathing difficulty, cough, mucus production and wheezing.

World COPD Day falls on the 20th of November. The objective of this day is to bring awareness about COPD, and improve COPD care throughout the world.

This year's theme is “All Together to End COPD”. Here are some things that you can do from your part to stay safe from COPD:

  • If you smoke, quit smoking. If you don’t, don’t start!
  • Avoid exposure to second-hand smoke and air pollution
  • Fight for clean air

Prevention is key!
