Dr Rashmi Nair is working in Pediatrics and Child Health, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Pediatric Allergy with extensive clinical experience in preventive, promotive and curative aspects of the field. During the span of her professional career, She has provided clinical care to children with simple and complex medical conditions in various clinical settings, and been involved with the training of medical doctors at undergraduate, postgraduate and fellowship levels in Pediatrics and Child Health and Pediatric Critical Care, as well as participated in the implementation of protocols towards early recognition and care of critically ill children of Kenya. Over the past 14 years, her work has focused on the development of Paediatric Critical Care services in Kenya, starting up with awareness talks at various forums, both locally and internationally. She spearheaded the establishment of a Paediatric Critical Care Unit at the Kenyatta National Hospital (tertiary-level national hospital) and successfully launched it in August 2015. This unit has led to a tremendous reduction in deaths among critically ill children who previously could not access such services
