Ananthapuri Hospitals organised a turf cricket tournament called "ANANTHAPURI CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2024" ( Trivandrum inter hospitals turf cricket tournament) yesterday (03-03-2024) at Kovalam Indoor Sports Hub. The event was inaugurated by Padmasree Prof Dr A. Marthandapillai ( CMD, Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute) in the presence of Mr Rohan Prem (well-known Indian domestic Cricket player ), Dr Gopal (Medical Superintendent, AHRI ) and Dr S Madhavan Nair ( Director -Surgical services, AHRI). Eight hospital teams participated in the tournament. The ACL 2024 champions trophy was grabbed by Sree Gokulam Medical College. Kims Cricket Club and SK Gladiators finished as runners-up and 3rd place respectively. Hands-on training for 15 select Nursing staff on Stoma care was done today under the guidance of Dr Bonny Nateshan Consultant in Surgical Gastroenterology and Mr.Pramod Kumar and Mrs Deepa Alocious of Coloplast. The training was held at The conference hall from 11 AM to 1 PM on 20/12/2023. The informative session by Dr.Bonny Nateshan was very engaging and interactive. Hands-on training for management of stoma site care and stoma bag change was given to 15 nursing staff by Coloplast trainers. The whole event was supervised by Dr.Bonny Nateshan. The program was coordinated by Dr.Mohammed Sajan, Physicain Pain and Palliative Medicine. COO Dr Sabarigirish and Dr.Anwin also presided over the training.

The Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH), affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) has inaugurated the Centre for Gender Studies. The centre was inaugurated by the writer and journalist, Smt. K A Beena, at a function presided by Prof. K Rajasekharan Nayar (Principal, GIPH). Dr Anishia Jayadev, Faculty, IMG Trivandrum delivered the keynote address. Dr Shiraz Bava, Director of Alive Foundation, Trivandrum delivered the felicitation address. Dr. Athira K (MPH scholar, GIPH) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Sethu Krishnan R (MPH Scholar, GIPH) delivered the vote of thanks.

The workshop on ‘Gender Awareness’ conducted in connection with the inauguration of the Centre for Gender Studies was attended by more than 100 delegates. Dr Malavika Binny (HOD, Department of History, Kannur University) and Dr S Harikumar (Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Advanced Research in Health and Human Behaviour, Trivandrum) lead the classes.

In addition to the Master of Public Health program and the Centre for Gender Studies, GIPH has OneHealth Centre and Antimicrobial Resistance Centre. The GIPH is situated inside Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram.

J Chinchu Rani, inaugurated the "Centre for One Health" yesterday at the Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH), Ananthapuri Hospitals. The minister said that most of the new diseases that emerged in the last three decades were from wildlife. We need an integrated, unifying and balanced approach to face such challenges, which integrates the health of people, animals and the environment. The facility offers a home isolation facility for Category A Covid patients (patients with mild symptoms not warranting hospitalization) who cannot isolate at home due to factors like the presence of high risk category dependents at home.

The 110 bedded 4 star facility at Keys provides a package including accommodation and 3 times food and AHRI provides medical support services which include 24 hr Dr as well as Nursing care, basic medication, Oxygen monitoring through Pulsoxymeter and support, 24×7 Ambulance support, and biomedical waste management.

A much needed timely novel initiative for the society, the project will certainly see a paradigm shift in Covid First line treatment in the city
