National Intra Operative Neurophysiology Workshop Concludes Successfully at Trivandrum
The Society of Intra Operative Neurophysiology and the Society of Neurodiagnostic Technology jointly organised a national-level IONM workshop at Ananthapuri Hospital, Trivandrum on July 28, 2024.
The formal inauguration was done by Sri Arif Mohammed Khan, Hon Governor of Kerala through Video Conference.
The event brought together esteemed experts, including Padma Shree Prof. A. Marthanda Pillai, Sajeesh Parameswaran national president of SNDT, Prof. Parthiban Velayudham Tata Hospital, Mumbai, Prof Sajo Thomas CMC Vellore, Prof George Vilanilam SCTIMST, Prof Anil AHRI, Dr Cindy Franke and various international experts. The experts shared their knowledge and expertise through interactive sessions, case discussions, and hands-on training.
The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of neurosurgeons, neurophysiologists, and neurotechnologists in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring. First time happening in the Capital City of Kerala. The event saw active participation from professionals nationwide, making it a resounding success.
Pediatric Emergency care strengthening - EMCARES WORKSHOP was conducted at Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute on July 19th Friday in association with IAP TRIVANDRUM. It was attended by 30 delegates from all over Kerala. *The workshop included discussion on emergency topics like Respiratory distress, Shock, Anaphylaxis, Seizures, Poisoning, Snakebite and Healthcare Communication, followed by Work stations on Trauma Care, Intraosseous cannulation, Cardiac emergency management, Needle Thoracocentesis and Pediatric Respiratory support. The topics were covered by eminent faculty - Dr Sheeja Sugunan, Dr Kamala Swarnam, Dr Rashmi Nair, Dr Gopika Sekhar, Dr Asha Nazimudeen, Dr Neeraja, Dr Poornima Venugopal, Dr Mili Thomas and Dr Devika.

Department of Pediatrics with the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Dpt, Ananthapuri Hospitals conducted an educational program at the AHRI auditorium for children with Type 1 diabetes on the topic BACK TO SCHOOL WITH DIABETES. Ananthapuri Hospitals organised a turf cricket tournament called "ANANTHAPURI CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2024" ( Trivandrum inter hospitals turf cricket tournament) yesterday (03-03-2024) at Kovalam Indoor Sports Hub. The event was inaugurated by Padmasree Prof Dr A. Marthandapillai ( CMD, Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute) in the presence of Mr Rohan Prem (well-known Indian domestic Cricket player ), Dr Gopal (Medical Superintendent, AHRI ) and Dr S Madhavan Nair ( Director -Surgical services, AHRI). Eight hospital teams participated in the tournament. The ACL 2024 champions trophy was grabbed by Sree Gokulam Medical College. Kims Cricket Club and SK Gladiators finished as runners-up and 3rd place respectively. In connection with the event Ananthapuri hospitals distributed plants for the players and disseminated a message to the public "PLANT A TREE AND SAVE THE PLANET"

Hands-on training for 15 select Nursing staff on Stoma care was done today under the guidance of Dr Bonny Nateshan Consultant in Surgical Gastroenterology and Mr.Pramod Kumar and Mrs Deepa Alocious of Coloplast. The training was held at The conference hall from 11 AM to 1 PM on 20/12/2023. The informative session by Dr.Bonny Nateshan was very engaging and interactive. Hands-on training for management of stoma site care and stoma bag change was given to 15 nursing staff by Coloplast trainers. The whole event was supervised by Dr.Bonny Nateshan. The program was coordinated by Dr.Mohammed Sajan, Physicain Pain and Palliative Medicine. COO Dr Sabarigirish and Dr.Anwin also presided over the training.

The Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH), affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) has inaugurated the Centre for Gender Studies. The centre was inaugurated by the writer and journalist, Smt. K A Beena, at a function presided by Prof. K Rajasekharan Nayar (Principal, GIPH). Dr Anishia Jayadev, Faculty, IMG Trivandrum delivered the keynote address. Dr Shiraz Bava, Director of Alive Foundation, Trivandrum delivered the felicitation address. Dr. Athira K (MPH scholar, GIPH) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Sethu Krishnan R (MPH Scholar, GIPH) delivered the vote of thanks.

Honourable Minister for Animal Husbandry and Diary Development, Smt. J Chinchu Rani, inaugurated the "Centre for One Health" yesterday at the Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH), Ananthapuri Hospitals. The minister said that most of the new diseases that emerged in the last three decades were from wildlife. We need an integrated, unifying and balanced approach to face such challenges, which integrates the health of people, animals and the environment. The minister said Kerala needs more research and education centres on One Health and congratulated GIPH on starting the Centre for One Health. The minister also suggested that GIPH take the lead in forming a secretariat of all professionals working on One Health.
