DEPARTMENT OF NEPHROLOGY

The department of nephrology and kidney transplantation at AHRI has the credit of having the most experienced full time faculty. Dr. R Kasi Visweswaran, one of the senior most Nephrologists in the country with more than 34 years of experience has ably taken the department into new frontiers.

We provide outstanding clinical care for patients with different types of kidney diseases including: clinical nephrology, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, critical care nephrology and renal transplantation. Conditions such as kidney infections, acute and chronic kidney failure, infections such as leptospirosis, dengue, kidney diseases due to diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cystic and stone disease, collagen vascular disease, inflammatory diseases, hereditary renal diseases, poisonings, pregnancy with hypertension and renal disease etc are treated with utmost care and professionalism at our top- notch facility. Being a tertiary level hospital, complicated cases are referred to this department from various other centres. We have round the clock facilities for the care of all type of patient with kidney problems including critically sick patients in ICU and patients with multi-organ failure.

Our deep rooted experience in the field has helped us to understand the impact of kidney disorders which go far beyond the initial diagnosis and treatment. Our team of experts give families the support they need to deal with the long-term effects of what can be a chronic life-changing disease. To address renal diseases holistically we have a team of social workers, psychologists, dieticians, nurses, technicians and transplant co-ordinator who provide the warmth and care to patients and families.

Our department works closely with an excellent urology and transplant surgical team and vascular surgery team. The team spirit and close collaboration with which the different departments of AHRI manage the patients goes a long way in the overall care of the patients

Our department is recognized for training in Nephrology subspecialty by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. Our specialists are available round the clock to achieve our goal of providing the highest quality care while helping patients manage their condition.

We provide personal and friendly care and also fully educate and support the parents about the child’s health needs. To enable us in this we have the team comprising child psychologist, social worker, nutritionist, nurses specialized in kidney disorders and dialysis, expert dialysis technicians and transplant co-coordinator.
