Dr Jayalekshmi has 27 years of experience as Ophthalmologist in health service, Kerala.She has served in many district and general hospitals across Kerala.
She has performed over 10000 small incision cataract Surgeries till date, including extremely difficult and challenging cases.
She as the head of the Mobile eye unit ,under the National Blindness control program has helmed several eye camps across Thiruvananthapuram district, including remote rural areas and tribal settlements.These include Diabetic retinopathy screening and glaucoma detection camps.
Deeply interested in paediatric eye problems,has played a key role in organising school eye health camps aimed at detecting and correcting vision problems early.
She retired as consultant Ophthalmologist from,Taluk hospital, Parassala recently.
