Dr. M.K Ajayakumar was Professor & Head of the Department of Paediatric surgery and he has severed as an internal and external examiner for MCh Pediatric Surgery for KUHS and Universities outside Kerala. He was the former Principal of Govt. Medical College, Thrissur, and Thiruvananthapuram. He was also the Chairman of the Organ Transplantation Committee.

He is well experienced in Pediatric Endoscopic surgeries like Tharcoscopy, VATS, Cystoscopy, Laproscopy, Bronchoscopy and Oesophagoscopy, Colonoscopy and done several Endoscopic procedures both emergency and elective cases
He has done more than 2000 Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate repair during my service.
Done plenty of skin grafting for burns and other tissue loss conditions.
Done splenectomy and Distal Lieno- Renal Shunt surgery for portal Hypertension with severe oesophageal variceal bleeding and huge splenomegaly, which was first time in Pediatric Surgery in Kerala.
Done several thoracotomy for oesophageal anasthamosis and colon replacement for congenital oesophageal atresia with fistula and lobectomy for congenital lobar emphysema and lung cysts, congenital diaphragmatic hernia etc.
Done 16 cases of Hepatic Lobectomy and Liver resection for Hepatoblastoms and Liver cysts, Choledochal cyst excision and anastomosis, Chole Cystectomy etc.
He has done many cases of bladder Augmentation ureteric reimplantation during my service. This is in addition to urological surgeries like Pyeloplasty, Nephroctomy, Cystoscopic procedures , Urinary Diversion and undiversion
Well experienced and done several neonatal surgeries both emergency and elective surgeries like Colostomy, Laparotomy and intestinal resection and anastomosis for atresia, malrotation, gangrane, necrotising, enterocolitis, Annular pancreas, Sacrococcygeal teratoma etc.
Done several cases of partial and total Parotidectomy, sub mandibular sial adenectomy, Thyroidectomy, Thyroglossal Cyst exision - Sistrunk's operation during my carrier.
He has done innumerable major pediatric surgical procedures like Laprotomy, appendicectomy intestinal resection and anastomosis, PULL THROUGH OPERATION for Anorectal malformation and Hirschsprung's diseases.
Being Senior Honorary Consultant to Regional Cancer Centre, He has done several number of Pediatric onco-surgeries like Total/partial nephroureteractomy for Renal cancer, Liver resection for liver cancer, Soft tissue Sarcoma, Lymphoma, Bone Cancers, Teratoma, Intestinal Tumors, Sacrocrygeal Teratomas.
Total Experience in Govt. Service : 36 years and 6 months
During his service in Pediatric Surgery, He has worked as Honorary Senior Consultant Pediatric Surgeon to prestigious institution, Sree Chithratirunal Institute of Medical Science and Technology and Regional Cancer Centre for 15 years.
